The FelineVMA Is Offering Two $10,000 Scholarships to Vet Students Who Care About Cats. Here's How to Apply.

The FelineVMA is awarding two $10,000 scholarships to second and third-year vet students committed to feline medicine. Deadline to apply is June 15, 2026.

If feline medicine is where your heart is, this one is for you.

The Feline Veterinary Medical Association has announced its 2026 Scholarships for Academic Excellence in Feline Healthcare, a program designed to recognize and invest in veterinary students who are already showing up for cats in a meaningful way. Two students currently in their second or third year at AVMA-accredited veterinary schools will each receive $10,000, plus complimentary registration to attend the 2026 FelineVMA Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, running September 24 through 27.

The FelineVMA has been building the infrastructure of feline-specific veterinary medicine for years, from the Cat Friendly Practice Program to evidence-based clinical guidelines to the Cat Friendly Certificate Program. This scholarship is an extension of that same mission, putting resources directly into the hands of the students who will carry feline medicine forward.

"Investing in the next generation of veterinary leaders is essential to advancing feline healthcare," said Heather O'Steen, CAE, FelineVMA CEO. "We are proud to support students who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and passion for improving the lives of cats."

To be eligible, applicants must be in good academic standing in their second or third year at an AVMA-accredited school. The application requires a resume or CV, proof of enrollment, a letter of recommendation from a mentor, and three essay responses covering your interest in feline medicine, long-term career goals, leadership experience, and relevant background. The deadline to apply is June 15, 2026.

The scholarship is supported by Merck Animal Health.

Beyond the scholarship, the FelineVMA Student Chapter Program offers complimentary membership through graduation, access to the Cat Friendly Certificate Program, and a full range of educational and professional development resources for students building a feline-focused career.
