Small things that make us happy during Covid-19

Covid-19, the accompanying job losses, and racial injustices in the world have all combined together to make for a turbulent 2020. With so much going on in the world, it's easy to feel hopeless or worn down. If you're feeling this way, here are some small things that are bringing joy to people like you.

Walking the dog

After tight restrictions that kept some countries completely house bound and others increasingly house bound, walking the dog has never looked so good. Not only does it feel amazing to get out of the house, but your dog's exuberant celebrations add a little icing to the cake.

Trying all the weird stuff you got for Christmas

Remember that huge bath set you got for Christmas? The weird gadget that's supposed to make your life easier but you never tried? Covid-19 has made us bored enough to try these things, and it turns out some of them are actually kind of cool.

Finding a pack of toilet paper

Lots of things have ended up disappearing off the shelves. While we probably still don't know why toilet paper was hoarded, restocking this essential never felt so good.

Discovering TikTok

Seriously, this is one place we could all spend hours scrolling through and never be bored. However, not sure how long we can actually use it.

Spending more time with family

For once, everyone is actually home. This means you actually can have dinner together, enjoy Netflix original, or even break out a board game. Even your teenager is there because—well--everything is closed.

Having time for reflection

The protests sparked by George Floyd and other people of color who have lost their lives unnecessarily has also caused many of us to rethink our own positions on race. Thanks to lock down, we also have the time to think over what this means for us both on an individual level and as a community.

This year has been a terrible one, but it does have some silver lining. We hope this brought a little hope to you during this difficult time.
