Chewy is expanding its veterinary footprint to the Pacific Northwest with the opening of Chewy Vet Care Redmond on Friday, September 18. The new practice, located at 16595 Redmond Way, Suite 155, marks Chewy Vet Care’s first location in the Seattle area and its first veterinary practice in the Western region of the United States.

Seattle-Area Pet Parents Get a New Veterinary Care Option

Washington is already one of the most pet-friendly states in the country. State data places Washington among the top five states for cat-friendly households, while the Seattle area is estimated to be home to approximately 180,000 dogs compared with about 107,000 children.

Pet health is also a major priority for local residents. According to a recent Chewy survey, 37% of residents said they prioritize their pets’ healthcare expenses over their own. With a large population of pet-owning households, Chewy Vet Care Redmond is designed to provide another veterinary care option for families throughout the Seattle area.

One of the most distinctive features of Chewy Vet Care practices is a focus on making the veterinary visit more transparent for pet owners. The Redmond hospital includes a treatment viewing window, allowing pet parents to watch portions of their pet’s care in real time. The concept is intended to give owners greater visibility into what happens behind the treatment-room doors and provide additional peace of mind during appointments.

The practice is also connected with Chewy’s broader pet-health ecosystem, including Chewy Pharmacy, Autoship, Connect With a Vet and PetMD. The goal is to create a more continuous experience in which veterinary care, prescriptions, pet health information and ongoing services can be accessed through the same broader platform.

The physical environment of the Redmond practice was developed with both pets and their families in mind.

The hospital incorporates warm lighting, soft colors, non-slip flooring and pet-friendly materials intended to create a calmer atmosphere for animals that may become nervous during veterinary visits. Visits may include features such as Polaroid photographs, selfie mirrors and examination rooms personalized with a pet’s name, creating a more welcoming and memorable experience for families.

Chewy has maintained its West Coast headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, since 2022, but the Redmond opening represents the company’s first Chewy Vet Care practice in the region. The expansion brings Chewy’s growing veterinary care model into one of the country’s most pet-focused markets while further connecting the company’s veterinary services with its existing pharmacy, telehealth, pet-health information and retail offerings.
