From Vet Receptionist to Comedy Queen: How Caitlin Palmer is Helping to Revolutionizing Veterinary Education!

Caitlin Palmer isn’t just redefining what it means to be a veterinary receptionist—she’s rewriting the script entirely. A theater major turned veterinary professional, Caitlin is a rare blend of talent, tenacity, and comedic genius. She’s one of the first ever Certified Veterinary Receptionists, but her real superpower lies in making people laugh while teaching them something valuable along the way.

Caitlin first captured hearts—and smile muscles—with her alter ego, “The Desk Wench,” on TikTok, where she writes and stars in hilarious skits that highlight the everyday chaos and absurdity of life inside a vet clinic. Her videos are wildly relatable to anyone who's ever answered a phone mid-cat-fight, juggled six appointments at once, or been on the receiving end of a client meltdown. With her impeccable comedic timing, sharp writing, and natural flair for performance, she’s turned her veterinary day job into a comedy stage—and the veterinary profession into her audience.

But Caitlin’s comedy chops don’t stop at short-form videos. Together with her husband Clay, she co-hosts multiple shows on Vet Candy, including Brain Smarts, a hilarious game show where veterinarians and vet techs compete in offbeat challenges about the latest veterinary news, and new show on Pet Candy (Vet Candy’s sister site for pet parents) The Cat Café, a cozy and comical podcast all about cats, from whisker quirks to feline folklore.

Now, Caitlin is taking on her biggest creative project yet, All Creatures, Vet Candy’s original scripted comedy podcast written by Vet Candy founder, Dr. Jill Lopez, and starring Caitlin and Clay as lead veterinarians who secretly work for a covert government agency and pull in real life experts like pathologist, Dr. Aleks Zuraw, neurologist, Dr. Richard Joseph, and forensic expert, Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, to help. Their mission? Protect the public (and their pets) from otherworldly threats. So far, they've encountered zombies, the Mothman, and even a rogue chupacabra. Caitlin not only stars in the show—she’s helping with script development, and working on illustrating the series with her own original art.

A gifted artist as well as a performer, Caitlin dreams of bringing All Creatures to life visually, combining her passion for storytelling, comedy, and design into a multimedia experience that educates and entertains. Sometimes she even sings! Her ability to blend humor with heart has made her a rising star in the veterinary world, and it’s clear she’s just getting started.

Whether she’s making you laugh, making you think, or making magic on the mic, Caitlin Palmer is proof that education and comedy don’t just coexist—they thrive together. Catch her latest adventures on All Creatures and more on Vet Candy’s podcast channel, available on your favorite podcast platform.
