H5 Bird Flu Confirmed in Los Angeles County Cat Linked to Raw Pet Food

Los Angeles County authorities have confirmed a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1) in a domestic cat that consumed commercially available raw pet food. This is the first confirmed feline case since a cluster of infections in December 2024–January 2025 linked to raw milk, raw meat, and raw pet diets.
