Zoetis Honors Veterinary Educators and Researchers with 2025 Awards

Nearly 80 veterinary professionals recognized for excellence in teaching and research across North America

Zoetis has announced the recipients of its 2025 Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award and Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence, recognizing educators and researchers who are shaping the future of veterinary medicine — in classrooms, laboratories, and clinics around the world.

The annual awards spotlight individuals whose work elevates veterinary education, advances scientific discovery, and directly impacts animal and public health.

Celebrating the Educators Who Shape Future Veterinarians

The Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award honors veterinary educators for their leadership, mentorship, and outstanding teaching ability. These awardees are often the professors students remember for life — the ones who made complex concepts click, modeled professionalism, and inspired confidence during the toughest years of training.

For 2025, Zoetis recognized over 35 veterinary educators representing a wide range of institutions, including land-grant universities, private veterinary schools, and international programs.

Award recipients span disciplines from:

  • Small and large animal medicine

  • Pathology and diagnostics

  • Surgery and clinical sciences

  • Public health and biomedical research

Together, they represent the backbone of veterinary education and the next generation of clinicians, specialists, and leaders.

Recognizing Research That Moves the Profession Forward

The Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence honors researchers whose innovative work has strengthened the scientific foundation of veterinary medicine.

This year’s recipients include more than 40 researchers whose work spans:

  • Infectious and emerging diseases

  • Food animal and herd health

  • One Health and zoonotic disease research

  • Diagnostics, epidemiology, and antimicrobial resistance

  • Translational research with implications for both animal and human health

Their contributions help drive evidence-based medicine, improve animal welfare, and protect global food systems.

A National (and Global) Representation of Veterinary Excellence

Award recipients hail from veterinary schools across the United States and internationally, including:

  • Auburn University

  • Cornell University

  • Texas A&M University

  • Tuskegee University

  • North Carolina State University

This broad representation highlights the depth and diversity of talent across the veterinary profession.

Why This Matters for the Vet Profession

At a time when veterinary medicine faces challenges like burnout, workforce shortages, and rising educational debt, recognizing excellence in teaching and research is more important than ever.

These awardees:

  • Train the clinicians caring for today’s patients

  • Generate the research guiding tomorrow’s treatments

  • Mentor students navigating one of the most demanding professional paths

Their work ensures that veterinary medicine continues to evolve, innovate, and remain grounded in science and compassion.

Zoetis’ 2025 awards shine a spotlight on the educators and researchers who quietly — and consistently — move veterinary medicine forward. Whether in the lecture hall or the lab, their impact reaches far beyond their institutions and into clinics, farms, communities, and classrooms worldwide.

Congratulations to all of the 2025 Zoetis award recipient
