Dechra Expands Veterinary Scholarship Program with New Focus on Critical Care
Dechra Veterinary Products is strengthening its commitment to the next generation of veterinary professionals by expanding its annual scholarship program in partnership with the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF). For 2025, the program will award over $60,000 in scholarships to veterinary students and technicians across the United States.
This year’s program introduces a new scholarship category in Anesthesia, Surgery, and Critical Care, bringing the total to 25 awards. Twenty veterinary students will each receive $2,500 scholarships in one of four specialty areas: Dermatology, Equine Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine, and the newly added Anesthesia, Surgery, and Critical Care. In addition, five veterinary technicians will receive $2,000 scholarships—making Dechra one of only a few companies nationwide offering technician-specific awards.
“Investing in veterinary education is a long-term priority for Dechra,” said Dr. Jill Stohs, Senior Director of Veterinary Professional Services and Medical Affairs at Dechra. “By partnering with AVMF, we’re not only providing financial support, but also recognizing students who show leadership, ambition, and dedication to advancing animal health. These scholarships are an investment in the future of the profession and in the communities we serve.”
Dechra has invested nearly $1 million in veterinary education over the past several years through scholarships, mentorships, hands-on learning opportunities, and educational events that reach thousands of students annually. Beyond scholarships, the company supports future professionals through its Student Ambassador Program, targeted mentorship initiatives, and a partnership with the Diversify Veterinary Medicine Coalition to help reduce barriers to entry in the field.
Applications for the 2025 scholarships are open from September 1–30, 2025. Recipients will be announced in the fall, with funds distributed in December. Full eligibility details and application guidelines are available through AVMF.
