Empowering the Next Generation of Veterinary Heroes: The Halo House Veterinary Scholarship Fund

The Halo House is proud to support the future of veterinary medicine while amplifying the lifesaving work of PETA through its new Veterinary Scholarship Fund. In partnership with PETA, this initiative gives aspiring veterinarians and veterinary technicians a chance to advance their careers while helping to end animal homelessness and provide care to underserved communities.

PETA’s work reaches far beyond traditional clinics. Their four mobile veterinary units travel to areas with little or no access to affordable care, providing high-volume, high-quality spay and neuter (HVHQSN) services. Each mobile clinic can sterilize up to 30 animals per day—sometimes more—helping prevent unwanted litters and reducing the burden on local shelters. Beyond spay and neuter, PETA staff provide urgent veterinary care, dental services, and lifesaving interventions, like the emergency spay that saved Sasha, a beloved dog diagnosed with pyometra.

The Halo House Veterinary Scholarship Fund is designed to support students who are passionate about making a tangible impact through shelter medicine and high-volume spay/neuter work. The fund provides financial assistance for education, training, and licensure, with recipients committing to work with PETA’s Mobile Clinics Division after graduation for a period determined by the award.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and accepted into or enrolled in a veterinary or veterinary technician program. Selection is based on financial need, academic merit, demonstrated commitment to animal protection, and dedication to veterinary medicine.

This scholarship is more than financial aid—it’s an invitation to be part of a community dedicated to saving lives and advancing veterinary care where it’s needed most. PETA and Halo House encourage anyone committed to a career helping animals to apply, share their values, and describe their plans to provide high-quality veterinary care in underserved communities.

Applications are reviewed as they are received. By submitting, applicants acknowledge their agreement with PETA’s privacy policy and consent to receive email communications.
