Purina Hosts 2025 Clinical Case Challenge in Panama City
Nestlé Purina, through its Pro Plan brand, brought together veterinarians from across Central America for the 2025 Clinical Case Challenge, a regional initiative that spotlights innovation in evidence-based nutrition and its role in advancing pet health.
The event gathered veterinarians from six countries, each presenting original clinical cases demonstrating how tailored nutritional strategies can improve outcomes and quality of life for companion animals.
Eight veterinarians took part in the competition. Two were recognized for outstanding case management:
Dr. Francisco Valerio of Costa Rica was honored for his successful management of feline idiopathic cystitis using Purina Pro Plan URst/ox Feline, highlighting the impact of targeted urinary care nutrition.
Dr. Dieter Wohlers of Guatemala earned distinction for a multimodal approach to canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome, emphasizing how diet can complement medical and behavioral interventions in aging pets.
As part of their recognition, both winners will travel to Purina’s headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, where they will tour the company’s research and development facilities and exchange knowledge with global experts in pet health and nutrition.
The Clinical Case Challenge underscores Purina’s commitment to advancing veterinary medicine through science, collaboration, and education. By showcasing innovative approaches from practitioners across Central America, the program fosters a stronger link between clinical practice and nutritional research, ultimately benefiting pets and the people who care for them.
