You Won’t Believe Which Veterinary Hospitals Made the List: USA TODAY Reveals the Best in America for National Pet Week 2025
It’s National Pet Week 2025, and USA TODAY is honoring the deep bond between pets and their people with a brand-new ranking of America’s Best Veterinary Hospitals—and the results are eye-opening.
With more than 60% of Americans owning at least one pet, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), quality veterinary care is more than a luxury—it’s a necessity. From nearly 90 million dogs to 74 million cats, plus birds, reptiles, rabbits, and more, Americans are investing in their pets like never before. In fact, 88% of dog owners and 84% of cat owners say their pets are full-fledged family members.
But finding great veterinary care isn’t always easy. With some parts of the country facing a shortage of veterinarians and designated “veterinary care deserts,” the search for high-quality medical care can be challenging—and critically important.
That’s why USA TODAY teamed up with market research firm Statista to develop its first annual Best Veterinary Hospitals in America list. This nationwide assessment drew on over 11,000 independent evaluations collected from both veterinary professionals and pet owners between January and March 2025.
To create the list, researchers considered:
Recommendations from licensed veterinary professionals
Feedback from pet owners
Facility accreditation (when applicable)
Surveys conducted directly through USA TODAY
Hospitals were evaluated based on services offered, outcomes, and overall satisfaction. The result: a trusted, data-driven list of 300 top-tier veterinary hospitals across the country that deliver exceptional care, from routine wellness exams to advanced surgery and emergency medicine.
Whether you're a devoted pet parent or a veterinary professional, this guide highlights the gold standard in animal care—just in time for National Pet Week.
